Training seminar in Azov

The regional training seminar "Modern Technologies of Speech Rehabilitation of Children and Adults After Cochlear Implantation" was held in November in Azov.
To receive new knowledge and improve their skills for a few days in this southern city came the teacher-defectologists, faculty and other specialists of educational institutions. In all - about 100 participants from different cities of the Rostov region: Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Taganrog, Azov and Rostov. Heads of school and preschool institutions, as well as representatives of the Ministry of General and Professional Education of the Rostov region participated in the seminar and preparation of the final resolution.

Speakers at the training event were: the chief physician of LLC "MasterSluch" in Rostov-on-Don, the surdologist Irina Grebenyuk and the methodologist-organizer of rehabilitation after cochlear implantation of the Saint Petersburg Scientific Research Institute of ENT of the Ministry of Health of Russia, the vice-president of the Parent Association "I hear the world!" Olga Zontova. The organizers of the training of regional specialists this time were the Parent Association "I hear the world!" And LLC "MasterSluh".

The aim of the seminar was a detailed acquaintance with the leading modern trends in the development of cochlear implantation and the main directions of rehabilitation work with children of early, preschool and school age after CI. For several days, professionals examined the issues of psychological and pedagogical diagnosis of children with hearing impairment in the process of examining them as potential candidates for cochlear implantation. Discussed factors that determine the effectiveness of surgery for CI in each specific case. They talked about the peculiarities of rehabilitation of children and adults after stem implantation.

The aim of the seminar is a detailed acquaintance with the leading trends in the development of cochlear implantation and rehabilitation.
A lot of time was devoted to discussions about the most important areas of psychological and pedagogical rehabilitation of children after cochlear implantation. Olga Zontova told about the experience of rehabilitation of children with hearing disabilities in the framework of the program "I hear the world!", Developed with the help of specialists from the St. Petersburg Research Institute. Each participant of the seminar received methodical literature on the program. Olga Viktorovna presented the teachers with a valuable and useful gift - a portfolio of "Doing Usharik" (on four stages of postoperative rehabilitation) for corrective sessions with children after CI, as well as recommendations for parents on the development of auditory perception of hearing impaired children and the manual "Cochlear implantation and children" Inna the Queen.

"During my speech," says Olga Zontova, "I also presented technical innovations in the field of auditory implantation and postoperative care. Technical and medical aspects caused a lot of questions among listeners. They were also interested in the methods of psychological and pedagogical diagnosis of children: cognitive (cognitive) and motor development, development of hearing and speech, and others.
The meeting of specialists in the field of rehabilitation of children after CI was not accidentally carried out on the basis of the Azov boarding school № 10. In 1991 the first class for not hearing and hard of hearing children was opened. Children with disabilities have the opportunity to be around hearing people around the clock, constantly participate in numerous school activities on a par with healthy peers. The first release of children with disabilities was held in 2003. Currently, the school - 10 classes for children with HIA and 5 conventional.

 
"Almost for 30 years of simultaneous work with children who have health restrictions, and without them, our teaching staff has accumulated considerable experience in inclusive education and integration of children with disabilities by ear into the environment," said the teacher-defectologist at the Azov boarding school № Anna Poseva. - Today, out of 50 teachers of the educational institution, 40 have higher education, and 24 - the highest qualification category.

All participants of the seminar in Azov emphasized its meaningfulness, practical orientation and timeliness.
In recent years, the number of children with hearing impairment is rapidly increasing in the Rostov region. Accordingly, there is a growing need for cochlear implantation, complete and up-to-date knowledge about it, as well as further methods of rehabilitation work with implanted children. At the moment, 110 children who have undergone CI are studying in general educational organizations of the Rostov region.
