Kulchinskiy

I have never regretted this operation even for a while - I regret that we did not do it earlier! My favorite and sweet boy hears, reacts to the sound, turns on musical toys and smiles.

We fight for our son every single day

We are the parents of a special child with a serious illness. Kiryushka was born on the 39th week of pregnancy, and he was immediately transferred to the intensive care unit for newborns. As a result of Rh-conflict, hemolytic disease of newborns developed. On the third day of life, against the background of bilirubin intoxication, convulsive syndrome, the son was given a blood transfusion. On the fourth day, we dubbed him in intensive care, when the priest was reading the prayer at Kiryushka had a long episode of apnea (stopping breathing), we were asked to leave the ward while the son was reanimated, I can not even say how many times I read "Lord's prayer". My son came to his senses and after a while we were allowed to finish baptism. On the 13th day, me and my son were transferred to the department of newborns, where we lay for another 10 days. For 10 days our son had been fighting for his life, and when he finally got better, we thought that this whole nightmare was over. But everything was just beginning.

Our son struggled for life, and when he finally got better, we thought that this whole nightmare was over. But everything was just beginning ...

At the age of 3 months Kirill was diagnosed with a cerebral palsy, that was a shock for us. For most of the uninitiated, such a diagnosis sounds as a sentence, but now we know that this is far fr om the case. The cerebral palsy is of different types and varying degrees of severity. Kirill with the atonic form of cerebral palsy, had a low tone in muscles. Every day we are fighting for his new movements. Constant lessons - massages, acupuncture, wo-therapy in the Czech Republic and at home, classes using the Sandakova method, aquareabilitation, dolphin therapy, all this has become a part of our life.

Sensorroneural hearing loss of the 4th degree is not a sentence

We have twice successfully passed the audio test in the maternity hospital, but when the son was already grown up, we began to notice that he did not react to the sounds.

We have twice successfully passed the audio test in the maternity hospital, but when the son was already grown up, they began to notice that he did not react to the sounds. You call him, and he will not blink an eye. The husband believed that he was just a little more, hears, but does not know how to react. But I doubted, and we signed up for a surdologist for another audio test, which also passed. Time passed, my son grew up, and we did not notice the reaction to the sounds, my husband was calmed down by three successfully passed tests, but my mother's heart did not give any rest. I insisted on going to Ekaterinburg, to the center "Bonum", where we signed up for one more test - VSWR. As it turned out, not for nothing! Kirill slept well, and in one session we passed this test twice. Both times the test did not show the slightest reaction of the brain to the sound delivered to the headphones! We were diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss of the 4th degree.

Thank God, this diagnosis is not a verdict, it is treated, cochlear implantation is done and hearing can be restored.

Such operations are supported by the state, and we queued up to get a federal quota. The deafness of our son was our first priority. Until recently we did everything to make the sonny crawl, sat down, got up, went. Now it became important to restore hearing, to give him the opportunity to hear and be heard. After all, deaf children can not learn to speak!

Cochlear implantation

We were given a quota for cochlear implantation. On 18 August 2016 in St. Petersburg in FGBU SPb Research Institute of ENT Kirill was operated. We have been staying together with the examination and operation for 8 days. The operation lasted about 45 minutes, and as soon as my son was transferred to the intensive care unit, I was called. Somewhere in an hour the child seemed not to be operated on, acted, played. Every day our morning began with a bandage. Thank God, everything went without complications, as soon as the seam began to dry out, they wrote him out home.

The operation lasted about 45 minutes, and as soon as my son was transferred to the intensive care unit, I was called.

Connecting the Speech Processor

On 21 September, a speech processor was connected to the implant. From this moment Kirill began to perceive sounds! All month before the connection, I read, I looked for a video about the connection, morally prepared myself. I stumbled upon a video wh ere the baby is put on the device, and he, smiling at his mother's voice, smiles. This picture was in my head, I wanted and I was waiting for such a reaction from my son. But ... We were connected quickly, for 10 minutes, there was no reaction and the audiologist explained why. Not everyone has a reaction for the first time, 10 percent can cry, the rest 90 can not be seen.

Visible reaction, we felt only the next day at the reception of the guardian. Our Kirill turned to the loud sound of the drum, and then also showed the reaction to other sounds! For 10 days we tuned, visited the speech therapist, the faculty, the psychologist. Were discharged with the ideal settings, as the audiologist told us. At that time, my son turned to the sounds, but only if the room is quiet. If the TV works, children play or mothers talk, then any loud sound was invisible to him, however, as for all the children who were connected to our visit.

The next day, at the reception of the guardian, Kirill turned to the loud sound of the drum, and then showed the reaction to other sounds!

I did not regret for a moment about the operation

I regret that we did not do cochlear implantation before! My favorite and native boy hears, turns on the sound, turns on musical toys and smiles, he likes how the xylophone sounds, although before the connection he was not interested in such toys. And yet, we immediately went into physical development. Sonny stood on all fours, trying to crawl, sit down. And all this immediately after coming home.

It's been almost six months since we have been connected. Kirill turns on any rustle, knows his name, says "maa" and "paa." He began to watch cartoons and he himself asks that they put on a speech processor, put a palm on his ear.

CI is a great achievement of the human mind! She gives the opportunity to hear an absolutely deaf person! Kirillis just beginning life - now he is 1 year and 10 months old. Thanks to CI, he will be like all other kids, albeit a bit special.

Now we have a familiar rehabilitation process, but already by hearing and speaking. Kirill needs classes with speech therapists. But we are sure that we will overcome all these difficulties, slowly but surely. Kirill is our sportsman - he has been fighting for new results since his birth. We are helping him in every way and believe that everything will go better!
